- Being stuck in mud/quicksand & loosing boots.
It was an early start I had just starting posting my muddy videos online and got lots of positive feedback, this helped motivate me in finding new areas to go for some muddy ventures. I had decided to do some research on tide times and found that an estuary was nearby and low tide was just after sunrise. During the evening I got a bag together of clean clothes just incase I got really muddy and picked out my outfit for the venture.
The outfit was a favourite of mine and quite a few people who followed my YouTube channel, I picked out my brown leather knee high boots, leather look skirt, star pattern tights and black short sleeve top.
-The picture below is almost the same as the outfit I wore.
I pull into the car park and I was right to pick a very early time as no other cars and as I got out of the car and started to head on the trail I saw no one.
I walked along the trail for a while until I found a way down onto the banks and took my first step onto the mud, it wasn't very deep, didn't even cover any of my boot, it was sticky though.
I took a few more steps out and found myself about ankle deep, I could feel the mud sticking to my boots and I did need to pull a little to take the next step. It was like this for a while so I just continued, the banks were opening up to a wider area of the estuary and the mud was getting a little deeper but was still posing no real problem.
I managed to walk out into the wider area a bit more and then with one step I found my left leg shin deep in this grey/black mud, the sudden shock and drop made me loose my balance and I had put my right foot down right next to my left which sunk to roughly the same depth.
At this moment my heart raced a little and I thought about time I had found a spot which was a bit deeper. I had watched other peoples videos of themselves in estuaries sinking into the mud and going through and I feeling a bit excited that I had found a spot myself.
I pulled at my left leg to take another step and I was really struggling to get it free from the mud, I even tired pulling at my boot with my hands, I didn't notice right away that my right boot had sunk a bit deeper. I wasn't that worried at the time as I thought I wasn't even knee deep, so I tried to pump my legs to break some of the suction and it was a struggle to move them.
I managed to get a bit of movement but I was sinking in further, its wasn't long before my boots were almost under this black mud, now I was thinking I am stuck. I now tried to pull at the top of my right boot as it was not as deep and I just felt my left leg getting pulled in further to my knee.
After a few minutes trying this useless idea I found myself knee deep in this mud, I had stop to taken a small break but I had noticed I was sinking, me knees were under this mud and I knew I was now in trouble.
After a few minutes of pulling at my legs I was half way up my thighs and I was sinking faster, the mud had loosened up but still had a lot of suction, I looked around for anything nearby but I was in the wider part of the estuary and I had no where to hold on to so I could get leverage.
I had to stop struggling after a few minutes as I was sinking in faster, my skirt was almost touching the mud and I couldn't move my legs, I could feel the pressure around my thighs, calves and feet. I couldn't move my legs in any form, I couldn't even pump then at this point so I just tried to calm myself down, but even trying this I could feel myself sinking, my skirt was now floating on top, my legs were pretty much claimed by the mud.
A couple of minutes had passed I was now deeper, I was up to my bum in mud and I could feel it sucking me in, I had tried to rock myself out, it was slightly arousing as I was touching the top of the mud and I guess the rocking motion moved me in a way, I was thinking "this is not the time".
I had to take another approach to get out, I had decided to lean back a bit and put my hands quite far behind me where I had walked before which I knew wasn't as deep and try and pull myself out. At first this didn't work I was still sinking, so I tried to pull my right leg to the surface very slowly, after what seemed hours it was slowly coming to the top but as a whole my body had sunk down, my bum was under and I was still getting some excitement from the mud as it shifted around me which was distracting.
After a while I could almost see my leg but I could feel my other leg cramping which was a bit painful so I had to stop for a moment. While I was resting a pulled my arms out of the mud, they were black and heavy, I was thinking how did all the other people who go into this mud get out so easily when stuck.
I again plunge my arms into the mud and try and bring my right leg to the surface, I was slowly winning but I was hip/waist deep as a whole. I could see the outline of my right leg so I now start with my left leg which was aching from the cramp.
I managed to pull my left leg to around the same as my right, I could break the surface so I pulled my arms out of the mud and reach for my right leg. I dug away some of the mud and started to unzip my boot and pull my foot out. I tried to repeat the process with my left, the zip was being really tough to pull down as I broke the bit you hold on to a while back.
I finally get my left leg free from the boot which was I knew was weighing me down, even my legs felt heavy with the amount of mud on me. I wipe the mud away from my watch and I noticed the time, I was stuck in the mud for about an hour, I was shocked I had not seen anyone.
I pull myself around so I am on stomach and facing the way I had came and just tried to crawl or swim out of the hole I had made, it took a while to make any distance.
After I had pulled myself to the area before in widen I try and stand and almost fall over, I guess my body was tired and I was cold, not surprising I was wet and covered in mud.
I now think I must try and hurry back to the car before anyone catches me like this.
I did mange that task, I quickly get my bag of clean clothes from the car and dart into the public toilets, I strip of my old tights, thong and top and try and clean myself up as with my towls.
I quickly get changed into jeans, big jumper and bad up my old clothes and throw them into the bin as I get into the car and make a quick exit.

So what did I gain from this little venture... well a pair of my boots were claimed by the mud and I guess they are still there, I lost an outfit I would have worn again and I scared myself into thinking I would never do that again. However I was also excited by my venture and it made me think that I really enjoyed being stuck and a little helpless.
I will venture to this spot again but better prepared and not alone. Thank you for reading I am sorry if I don't make senses at points, I was just trying to remember as much as possible. Thanks again xx :)
